]]> タイ古式マッサージはインドのアーユルヴェーダの影響を大きく受けています。アーユルヴェーダが宇宙の構成要素を５つ（空・風・火・水・土）に分けているのに対し、タイ伝統医学では（土、水、風、火）の４つに分類しています。そして宇宙と人間の体はそれぞれが分離しているわけではなく、相対関係にあるという認識に立っているので、人体もまた４要素で成り立っていると考えています。

「土」は体の２０器官を構成し、「水」は体内を流れる１２の液体を作り出し、「風」は体の６つの動きを織り成し、そして「火」は体の４つの熱を生成すると考えられています。

「土」が構成する２０の器官
髪、毛、爪、歯、皮膚、筋肉、靭帯、骨、骨髄、脾臓、心臓、肝臓、筋膜、腎臓、肺臓、大腸、小腸
新しく食べた物、古い食べ物、脳、脊髄

「水」が構成する１２の液体
血液、汗、胆汁、痰、膿、涙、リンパ液、脂肪、唾液、尿、鼻水、滑液

「風」が構成する６つの動作
頭から足への動き、足から頭への動き、腹の中の動き、胃や腸の中の動き、血液の動き、呼吸の動き

「火」が構成する４つの熱
体温、高熱、老化、消化
